Shemspeed/Modular Moods is looking for an intern for the spring semester (beginning Jan/Feb 08):
A personable, energetic, and, if possible, tech-savvy student to assist with online and in-person marketing and promotions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing marketing and street team, maintaining and updating myspace and facebook profiles, some general administrative work, and assisting with special projects. Experience with photoshop/illustrator and youtube encoding is a plus, but not required.
Modular Moods and its sister company Shemspeed are two music enterprises featuring artists of indie hip hop, breakbeat klezmer jazz, electronic, post rock, and lots of other genre smashers. We have released albums by Y-Love, The Educated Consumers, bellflur and Juez to name a few. We work hard putting together multi-cultural events promoting knowledge and understanding of different musical genres that transcend geographical, historical, and cultural borders.
We are currently launching the marketing campaign for the upcoming Y-Love album along with a world wide tour. We are currently updating our Shemspeed.com site with hundreds of songs, videos, and events from all over the globe as well as adding new artists to our already extensive roster. We will also be producing global Shemspeed open mics, as well as planning the 4th annual Sephardic Music Festival which will showcase Sephardic, Yemenite, and Ladino music.
This is an unpaid part-time position available for high school/college credit (approx. 10-15 hours per week), but not without perks. This is an opportunity to learn from a successful indie record label and music promotions company. Open to students and non students alike. Work from anywhere!
